Knight’s
Cross Forge is a
blacksmith shop owned and operated by Jesse and Dolly Stamper, located
in Fletcher, NC - just south of Asheville.
Jesse’s
techniques and methods stem from training he received from
working in an 1880’s recreation
smithy. The items produced are custom forged iron work, standard ironware objects, and accoutrements for period reenactment. The items shown on the website are a small sample of what can be forged.
Favoring traditional blacksmithing techniques, Jesse works primarily by hand with mild steel. This type of work is commonly referred to as wrought iron; however, wrought iron more correctly describes a purer form of iron used over a hundred years ago. Real wrought iron, however, is no longer manufactured in any quantity. In most cases the use of mild steel results in a higher-quality, longer-lasting product.
While we offer "stock" items this simply means they are a standard pattern that we reproduce for a set price. It does not imply that the items are in stock and ready to ship. All of our work is made to order and is not sitting on a shelf in a warehouse. This means that your items will take longer to reach you but you will be getting a one-of-a-kind item.
